2M3BEETLE -- 14" -- photo? -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Monday proposed removing the threatened valley elderberry longhorn beetle from the endangered species list. The beetle has been the bane of the flood-control community, because it depends on a particular bush that grows in floodplains and often must be removed for levee projects. The delisting, if it goes forward, could significantly reduce costs and complications associated with flood-control work. WEISER.
